I carved this wand from a maple branch, but it is not mine. I am not sure who I carved it for? This is my first carved wand of what I hope to be many.
The inscription of the wand is in the branch version of ogham and says "So Mote It Be" The handle is wrapped in leather. I also have a purple silk bag for it.
If you think this wand is for you message me, I am asking about $40US for it. I will cleanse it and give it a blessing on the Solstice tomarrow and then it will be ready to go to its home.
Well the third is the best post of all. I am having a great father's day! We went yesterday and I got some new tools so I am now ready to go into full wood working production. I am excited and I hope al goes as I want it to. I also went for a walk this morning to commune with nature and look at some trees. I was happy to find a ton of ash trees and 5 wild cherries!!! I had no idea we had wild cherries on the property. I am so happy cherry has such a beautiful natural color and is a joy to work with. For my wood work I want to mostly use native woods and if I can get them by just walking out my door then that will be much easier.
It felt good to be in nature, talking to the trees, being in the wild country. It is only there that I think that the Faerie Country crosses and merges with our own. I sat and listened to the birds, watched the early sunlight dapple through the grand boughs and dance on the lush green earth below. Re-energizing, spiritual, magical....
I wish I could do it more often.
One of the cherry trees on the way back home graced me with a newly shed limb, big enough for several wands. I cannot wait to begin work on them.
So I have been working on my BoS/Spellbook/Grimoire/whatever. I am not sure what it is exactly. I am sure though that it has a name. One that reflects my views on witchcraft and homesteading. I call it the Appalachiad..pretty cool I think! Unfortunately it does not get much attention and has very little in it. In fact there is no actual it...at the moment it is a collection of files on my hard drive. I finally managed to get the opening page complete. I have always felt that the first thing in the book should be a blessing, a protective spell, and a short intoduction of shorts. All but the intro is complete and I am working on that. As to the rest of it so far it consists of a few spells, a concecration, a circle casting, and an invocation. As I said I am not really sure yet what it is so it is hard to fill it. I would like to include my philosphy on nature, my feelings towards the gods and other beings, and magic itself.
Eventually I would like it to be physical and bound. But I am not found of the three ring binder thing, I would rather print several volumes. There is nothing wrong with them, for me ambience is kinda important. I will probably completely bind it myself. I have been designing pages to write on, coming up with font and image ideas and so forth. The only thing I have not figured out is a cover. But even that will come to me in time, when I am ready to print it out and formally make it.
