Well the star is finished and is sitting atop our tree.  All in all I am happy with it and it reall was not as hard as I thought it would be.  Actually the creation process went very well opposite of my usual work which is clumbsy at best.

I decided to go with laces to attach it to the tree, they work great and looks wonderful but be prepared to be perched percariously(sp?) on a stool for some time while you get it onto the tree and then tighten each lace down.

The wood is english walnut, my first time working with it and I really liked it.  It is kinda hard to see the knotwork with the dark wood even with the light colored background. 

As I said I am pleased with it as is my family, I hope to use it for many years and I hope it sees use for many generations.
